I believe I’ve stolen the mantle of “most alarmingly ugly painting produced” from my previous work, Happy Little Accident in Hell.
I’m trying to experiment with piping paint onto a canvas as an impasto technique, and also committed to just doing my tests on real canvases so if I get lucky I have a painting. I would no exactly say I “got lucky” with this experiment 🤣.
The color is great, liquitex pearlescent white on a dark silver, but the forms created by piping the mixture from a ziplock bag were not as pleasant as I’d hoped. I thought I’d be able to pipe a more even line and didn’t realize how gloppy it would look naturally.
There’s definitely a “body horror” aspect to the result, hence the reference to the work of filmmaker David Cronenburg. Luckily the canvas is very small, and got for half-price at Micheal’s.
